Shortbread Recipe

Here is one of my Dad's favourite treats. In fact, in my cookbook at home, this shortbread recipe is simply titled "Dad's Shortbread".

Young and old alike love the classic taste of shortbread. I enjoy this recipe because it uses few ingredients, but has a wonderful flavour and crumb.

So, if you want to give a seriously delectable holiday food gift to someone you know, why not whip up a batch of shortbready-goodness?

Shortbread

1c butter
1/2c sugar
2c flour

Mix with an electric mixer for 5-10 minutes. Press into a greased 8" x 8" pan. If desired, poke the surface with a fork for a decorative touch. Bake at 300F for 40 minutes. Cut into rectangles and package it up to give away!

For a special touch, add a few tablespoons of lavender or lemon zest to your batter, or drizzle the baked squares with chocolate. Yum!
