Gingersnap Cookies
Betcha can't eat just one. These gingersnap cookies will keep you coming back for more...and more and, maybe, just one more.
These really ought to be called ginger'chews' because of their chewy texture. But don't let their chewiness fool you - these tasty treats are excellent dunked in milk.
Adapted so that you can use this recipe as a gift-in-a-jar, you can be sure that the loved one you give these cookies to will be thanking you...and so will their taste buds!

Mix these ingredients in a jar
- 1 cup sugar - 2 1/4 cup flour - 2 teaspoons baking soda - 1 teaspoon cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon salt - 1/2 teaspoon ginger - 1/2 teaspoon cloves - 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Carefully spoon your dry ingredients into a quart sized canning jar. Seal up the jar and top it with some pretty fabric, ribbon and a tag.
Instructions for baking
- 3/4 cup butter - 1/4 cup molasses - 1 egg
Preheat oven to 350F. Cream your butter, molasses and egg together. Add in the dry ingredients from your jar and mix thoroughly until your dough comes together. Roll into balls. Roll balls in sugar. Bake on a greased cookie sheet for 10 minutes.
Makes 3 1/2 dozen cookies.
