Chocolate Cupcake Recipe
Shhh...make sure you keep this chocolate cupcake recipe a secret; it's been in the family for generations, but I've decided to share it with you.
This recipe is better than any store-bought mix and just as easy. Simply throw all your ingredients in a bowl, mix, and the cake comes out perfect every time. YUMMMMMMY!
I've adapted the recipe so that you can give it as a gift in a jar to your loved ones this holiday. They'll be sure to thank you for giving them an excuse to make cupcakes!
Make up your own tag with the baking instructions, or download this retro-inspired 4" x 6" recipe card here.

Layer these ingredients in your jar
- 1 1/2 cups sugar - 1/2 cup cocoa - 1 3/4 cup flour - 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda - 3/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions for baking
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil - 1 1/2 cups milk - 2 eggs - 1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 350F. Mix all of your dry and wet ingredients together in a large bowl and beat for three minutes. Spoon into paper-lined muffin tins, or a greased 9" x 13" pan, or two greased 9" circular pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
Let cool and top with your favourite icing.

Makes 18 cupcakes, one 9" x 13" cake or two 9" circular cakes.
