Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Gifts in a jarThe chewiness...the chocolaty goodness...this is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe out there and, lucky for you, I've adapted it so that it can be used as a gift in a jar!

While having a funnel on hand is helpful for getting the dry ingredients into the jar, it's not absolutely necessary. Just be careful and you probably won't make too much of a mess.

Layer the ingredients in such a way so that they become 'sand art'. Top your masterpiece with pretty fabric and tie on some string, a quaint button and, voila, you now have an easy homemade gift to give away.

Don't have the time to make up a pretty tag for this homemade gift idea? No worries. You can download this cute 4" x 6" recipe card for free here.

Now then, let's get to the good part!

In the following order, layer these ingredients in your jar

- 1 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup of chocolate chips (you can press the chips down into the jar so that they all fit)

Instructions for baking:

- 3/4 cup butter
- 1 egg
