Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
The chewiness...the chocolaty goodness...this is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe out there and, lucky for you, I've adapted it so that it can be used as a gift in a jar!
While having a funnel on hand is helpful for getting the dry ingredients into the jar, it's not absolutely necessary. Just be careful and you probably won't make too much of a mess.
Layer the ingredients in such a way so that they become 'sand art'. Top your masterpiece with pretty fabric and tie on some string, a quaint button and, voila, you now have an easy homemade gift to give away.
Don't have the time to make up a pretty tag for this homemade gift idea? No worries. You can download this cute 4" x 6" recipe card for free here.

Now then, let's get to the good part!
In the following order, layer these ingredients in your jar
- 1 3/4 cup flour - 1/2 cup brown sugar - 1/2 cup white sugar - 1/2 teaspoon baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon salt - 1 cup of chocolate chips (you can press the chips down into the jar so that they all fit)

Instructions for baking:
- 3/4 cup butter - 1 egg - 1 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
Preheat oven to 375F. Cream the butter, egg and vanilla together in a bowl. Add the contents of your jar and mix well. Spoon cookie dough onto a cookie sheet and bake for 10 - 12 minutes.
