Behind the Scenes:
Who belongs to the hands in all those photos?

homemade holiday giftsHi! So glad you came here to meet me. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

You might know me as the resident 'hand model' for all the photos on homemade holiday gifts here, but I'm also a mom to two wonderful children and a wife of six years to a very loving and gracious husband (that's the two of us in that photo over there).

When I'm not at home, I work part time as a substitute teacher...and shop for bargains at dollar stores.

Over here, it's my job to manage the home and budget while my husband is at work. We're just starting out in life, so we have a lot of expenses and limited resources. Gift giving (especially around Christmas time) can cripple our budget, so I've had to get resourceful and I've started making most of our gifts by hand.

I come from a long line of hard working people. They were resourceful and productive and it's hard wired in my genes. It's a running joke with the people I know that I can't sit still. I never just 'watch' TV or a movie...I'm always making something with my hands...down time is productive time for me.

Homemade gifts have become my passion for so many reasons:

- they give me a creative outlet
- they're more personal or meaningful than store-bought gifts
- they're economical

I take pride that I can bless my home by making meaningful handmade gifts that don't cause us to go over budget.

I take pride in knowing that whatever I do, I'm doing it well. I'm not changing the world, but I am making big changes in my little world.

Each of the gift ideas I do for this website are designed to be made inexpensively and with minimal fuss. Just personalize them for the people you know and your homemade gifts will be treasured for years to come.

I sincerely hope that my website gives you the tools and ideas to bless your home and your family in the coming years.

Drop me a line and let me know how your homemade holidays are coming along. I'd love to hear about your success!

Make it better. Make it homemade,

Vanessa
